GhIE Engages Graphic Communications Group on Strategic Collaboration

A delegation from the Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE), led by the Executive Director Ing. Dr. Enyonam Kpekpena, paid a courtesy visit to the Graphic Communications Group Limited (GCGL) to congratulate the media house on its 75th anniversary and to explore avenues for collaboration on 11th November 2025. The GhIE team included Ing. Daniel Allan (representing the Publications Committee), Ing. Leonora Otu Boateng (Director, Professional Practice), Ing. Melomey (representing the Membership Committee), and Ing. Juliet Mawunyo Gbormittah (Director, Membership Services).

The GCGL team, led by Managing Director Mr. Ato Afful, warmly received the delegation. Other key officials present included Mr. Franklin Sowa (Director of Marketing and Sales), Mr. Theophilus Yartey (Editor), and Ing. Charles N. Amoako (Director of Technical Services).

Key highlights of the meeting included:

  • Membership Visibility: GhIE proposed resuming the publication of its list of members in good standing in the Daily Graphic, a practice previously halted due to costs. GCGL expressed a willingness to support this initiative.
  • Conference Collaboration: GhIE briefed GCGL on its upcoming Annual Conference scheduled for March 2026 in Ho. GCGL was invited to participate, with the option to mount an exhibition stand and contribute to pre-event publicity.
  • Professional Registration: GhIE encouraged GCGL to ensure all engineering practitioners within its organization are duly registered with the Institution.
  • Media and Communication Support: Mr. Afful offered GCGL’s support in shaping GhIE’s communication strategy and highlighted the availability of their digital platforms, studio, and Thought Leadership Platform for engineering-related content.
  • Ethics and Public Engagement: Opportunities were discussed for GCGL to contribute to or participate in GhIE’s Annual Ethics Lecture and to collaborate on forming an engineering press presence.
  • Publications and Discounts: GCGL invited GhIE to contribute an article to the upcoming 2026 edition of the Ghana Yearbook, with a submission deadline at the end of November. Additionally, GCGL offered discounted access to its digital news platform for GhIE members in good standing.
  • Strategic Media Partnership: The Editor of the Daily Graphic requested a designated GhIE contact person to facilitate timely expert input on engineering matters.

This engagement marks a significant step toward strengthening the relationship between the engineering profession and the media, with both institutions committed to promoting national development through strategic communication and collaboration.
