GhIE Engineering Excellence Awards (EEA)

The Engineering Excellence Awards (EEA) is the flagship recognition programme of the Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE), established to honour outstanding engineers, engineering organizations, innovators, researchers, educators, and industry leaders whose work is advancing engineering practice and contributing to national development.

Individual Excellence Awards (12)

1. Professional Engineer of the Year
The highest honor for an engineer who has demonstrated exceptional technical excellence, leadership, and impact in advancing the profession. Recognizes sustained contributions to national development, engineering innovation, and professional practice.

2. Young Engineer of the Year (≤ 35 years)

3. Distinguished Woman Engineer of the Year
Honors a female engineer who has demonstrated outstanding leadership, mentorship, and contributions to advancing women’s participation in engineering.

•Mentorship and capacity-building for women engineers

4. Lifetime Achievement Award in Engineering
A prestigious award honoring an engineer with decades of outstanding contributions, leadership, and impact on the engineering profession, academia, or national development.

5. Engineering Educator of the Year

6. Engineering Researcher of the Year
Recognizes an engineer whose research has significantly advanced knowledge, innovation, or practice in engineering, with measurable impact on industry or society.

7. Engineering Entrepreneur Award
Celebrates an engineer who has successfully established and grown an engineering-driven business or venture, demonstrating innovation, resilience, and measurable economic or social impact.

8. Engineering Consultant of the Year
This award recognizes a consultant who has provided exceptional engineering advisory services, feasibility studies, design solutions, and project management with outstanding professionalism and impact. The consultancy should demonstrate how its expertise has shaped successful projects and influenced policy or industry standards.

9. Engineering Craftsman of the Year
This award recognizes outstanding craftsman and technical skills demonstrated by engineering craftsmen, technicians, or artisans who contribute significantly to engineering projects and industrial development. It celebrates hands-on excellence, precision, innovation, and dedication in applying engineering knowledge to practical work.

It recognizes technicians whose hands-on expertise, problem-solving ability, and dedication have significantly contributed to the success of engineering works in Ghana.

Innovation & Technology Advancement Awards (5)

1. Sustainable Engineering Innovation Award
Sustainable Engineering Innovation Award This award recognizes outstanding engineering designs, technologies, or projects that demonstrate high levels of innovation, creativity, and sustainability. It honours solutions that advance technical excellence while promoting environmental responsibility, resource efficiency, and long-term resilience. The award highlights engineering innovations that not only solve real-world challenges but also contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s green transition, climate resilience, and sustainable development goals
