GhIE President to Deliver Presidential Address on Engineering Solutions for Ghana’s Road Infrastructure

Accra, February 4, 2026 — The Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE) will host a Presidential Address by its President, Ing. Ludwig Annang Hesse, on Thursday, 19 February 2026, at the Ghana Shippers Authority Auditorium, Accra. The address, themed “Do It Well, Do It Right – A Focus on Roads in Ghana,” will examine practical, engineering-led approaches to strengthening Ghana’s road infrastructure and improving project delivery outcomes.

Reliable road infrastructure is essential to economic growth, private sector development, and social inclusion. In Ghana, however, challenges such as premature road deterioration, weak maintenance frameworks, and safety risks continue to constrain productivity, increase logistics costs, and undermine investor confidence.

The Presidential Address will outline strategies to enhance infrastructure quality, reinforce professional accountability, and promote value-for-money delivery across the road sector. Particular attention will be given to lifecycle-based planning, quality assurance, ethical engineering practice, and the role of data and innovation in improving long-term performance.

The event will convene engineers, policymakers, regulators, contractors, development partners, academics, and the media to discuss reforms that can strengthen institutional capacity, improve governance in project delivery, and enhance road safety.

Discussions will also explore how the engineering profession can provide independent technical oversight and support evidence-based decision-making to ensure resilient and sustainable road networks.
