GhIE Inaugurates Obuasi Chapter

Branch 1 marked a significant milestone by pioneering the inauguration of the first chapter of the Institution, the Obuasi Chapter, on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at Anyinam Lodge, Obuasi. The event served as a unifying platform, bringing together esteemed guests from both national and regional offices of GhIE, leadership from AngloGold Ashanti Ghana
(AGAG) Obuasi, engineers, engineering students, and practitioners from across the Obuasi municipality. The purpose was to witness and celebrate the establishment of the Obuasi Chapter.

During the ceremony, the Chapter executives and Women in Engineering (WinE) executives took their oaths of office, administered respectively by the President of GhIE and Ing. Naa Lamkai, representing the National WinE Chair. A significant highlight was the unveiling of a commemorative plaque bearing the inscription “GhIE, THE OBUASI CHAPTER” by the president, symbolizing the official commencement of the Obuasi Chapter. As part of the inauguration proceedings, deserving founding engineers of the chapter were honoured with citations, recognizing their valuable contributions. This ceremony not only solidified the presence of GhIE in Obuasi but also celebrated the dedication and achievements of the individuals instrumental in the establishment of the Obuasi Chapter.
