WinE Affair 2023

WinE Affair, an annual event, serves as a platform for promoting innovative ideologies and empowering women in engineering to address societal issues through technology and related fields. It is also designed to equip women engineers with the skills to market their innovative ideas and embark on entrepreneurial ventures, leveraging their problem-solving abilities. The most recent edition of WinE Affair took place from July 6th to 8th, 2023, at KNUST, Kumasi, with the theme “ADVANCING INNOVATION & SUSTAINABILITY – THE ROLE OF THE FEMALE ENGINEER.”

The event hosted six participating universities:

• University of Energy and Natural Resources
  (UENR)
• University of Mines and Technology (UMaT)
• Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST)
• Kumasi Technical University (KsTU)
• University of Ghana Legon (UG)
• Takoradi Technical University (TTU)

Distinguished guests at the program included Ing. Dr. Enyonam Kpekpena (WinE National Chairperson) and Ing. Alberta Amankwaa (Regional Chairperson), among others. The Innovative Challenge, a highlight of the event, occurred on Saturday, July 15th, 2023, at the KNUST Engineering Auditorium. The challenge brought together visionary individuals, cutting-edge technologies, and innovative ideas, fostering collaboration and showcasing groundbreaking developments across various sectors. The winning team, comprising participants from Kumasi Technical University (KsTU), clinched victory with their hydroponics
system for vegetable production. In recognition of their achievement, the team was awarded certificates and a cash prize, underscoring the importance of their innovative contribution to the field.
