Africa Prize for Engineering Innovation

1. Africa Prize for Engineering Innovation Final – 6 July

Join us on Thursday 6 July to help us crown the winner of the 2023 Africa Prize for Engineering Innovation. This year’s final is being hosted at Labadi Beach in Accra, Ghana and will also be live streamed internationally for viewers at home. 15 talented entrepreneurs from across sub-Saharan Africa have undertaken intensive training and mentoring from international business leaders and experts. Their innovations tackle challenges central to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, including clean water and sanitation, sustainable cities and communities, clean energy, good health and wellbeing, and quality education. Four finalists have been chosen to pitch their innovations at the final event for the chance to become our ninth Africa Prize winner. The winner will receive £25,000 and the three finalists will win £10,000 each. The event will also include an audience vote for the most impactful ‘One to Watch’ pitch and an exhibition to allow attendees to explore and connect with the Africa Prize 2023 shortlist. The event will be hosted by Ghanaian entrepreneur and Director of the GhanaThink Foundation, Ato Ulzen-Appiah. We’re delighted to welcome Professor Elsie Effah Kauffman, Dean of Engineering Sciences at the University of Ghana, as our keynote speaker, and British High Commissioner for Ghana, Harriet Thompson, who will deliver closing remarks at the event. To register to attend, either in person or online, or if you would like to find out more about the event, please click here.
