The Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE) collaborated with the University of Toronto Centre for Maintenance Optimization and Reliability Engineering (C-MORE), to deliver an internationally recognized five day certificate course in Asset Management at the Institution. The course ran from the 24th – 28th February and was attended by 23 participants from BOST, GPHA, Zoomlion, Anglogold Ashanti, Asanko Gold, Chocomac Ghana, Perseus Mining, GWCL and GHA.
The University of Toronto Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering is the #1 Engineering School in Canada; and has designed this course to help managers care for company and national assets and achieve maintenance excellence. The facilitators were Professor Emeritus Andrew K. S. Jardine, the founder of CMORE and Joseph Ashun, P.Eng. – Principal Consultant – a Ghanaian based in Canada and adjunct professor at CMORE. Participants were schooled in reduction of maintenance and repair costs and extension of economic life of capital equipment, systems and components. The course outline included:
Each participant received a copy of Prof. Jardine’s bestseller,” Maintenance, Replacement, and Reliability: Theory and Applications, Second Edition”, a certificate of accomplishment by the University of Toronto and 9 GHIE CPD points. They acknowledged the course would be of immense benefit to them since they would be able to immediately implement a lot of the principles learned as soon as they return to their various workplaces.
