BE BOLD AND COURAGEOUS HON. SAM OKUDZETO CHARGES ENGINEERING PRACTITIONERS

In a gesture of appreciation and acknowledgement, the President of the Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE), Ing Kwabena Bempong, along with the Executive Director, Ing David K. Nyante, Past President Ing Alex Ayeh and Mr. Richard O. Acheampong, a staff of the GhIE, paid a courtesy visit to the esteemed Lawyer Sam Okudzeto at his office in Sena Chambers on April 5, 2024.
The purpose of the visit was to extend gratitude to Lawyer Okudzeto for his significant contribution as the Special Guest at the opening ceremony of GhIE’s 54th Annual General Meeting and Conference on March 19, 2024. During the ceremony, Lawyer Okudzeto delivered a powerful address, highlighting the indispensable role of engineering in national development. He emphasised that engineers must collaborate effectively and innovate solutions to tackle society’s myriad challenges.
Moreover, Lawyer Okudzeto urged engineers to uphold their professional ethics with unwavering courage and resilience, advising them not to succumb to undue influence from authorities that may compromise their principles. His words resonated deeply within the engineering community, inspiring a renewed commitment to integrity and excellence.
During the visit, Lawyer Okudzeto warmly welcomed the GhIE delegation and reiterated his belief in the importance of engineers: “When I look at the profiles and various groups within the various engineering fields and the specialization involved, it looks like there is nothing we can do without engineering”.
He emphasised the need for continuous professional development, underscoring its role in enhancing the competence and capabilities of engineering practitioners in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.
In response, President Kwabena Bempong expressed sincere appreciation on behalf of GhIE for Lawyer Okudzeto’s invaluable insights and guidance. He reiterated GhIE’s commitment to fostering collaboration among engineering practitioners and other stakeholders to address societal challenges effectively. Additionally, he affirmed GhIE’s dedication to promoting continuous professional development as a cornerstone of excellence in engineering practice.
