BE BOLD AND COURAGEOUS HON. SAM OKUDZETO CHARGES ENGINEERING PRACTITIONERS

The President of the Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE), Ing. Rev. Prof. Charles Anum Adams, has inducted 122 Professional Engineers.
The induction ceremony was held on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at the Engineering Centre, Roman Ridge-Accra.
Speaking at the ceremony, the President of the Institution explained that the GhIE ensures practitioners in the engineering industry maintain professional standards and adhere to regulations, guidelines and the Code of Ethics for Engineering practice by conforming to internationally-established technical, environmental and safety standards.
The Executive Director of GhIE, Ing. David Kwatia Nyante, admonished the newly-inducted professional engineers to continue developing their profession, share knowledge and develop their leadership abilities.
He also indicated that there was the need to be active in branch activities, because the Institution continues to bring to the doorsteps of members some significant activities and events.
Ing. Nyante tasked the inductees to go out there and deliver their work, ensuring that the engineering does not go wrong.
He reiterated past president Ing. Dr. Kwame Boakye’s powerful words, that “Ghana is going nowhere without engineers”.
Chairman of the membership committee of the GhIE Ing. Dr. Patrick Amoah Bekoe presented the 122 candidates who participated in the various Technical Division Examinations to the president of GhIE for the Swearing of Oath and Presentation of Certificates.
The 122 Professional Engineers who were inducted comprised 56 Civil Engineering Division; 17 Mechanical/Agric Engineering Division; 10 Chemical/Mining Engineering Division; and 39 Electrical/Electronic Engineering Division.
Giving a word of advice to the newly inducted Professional Engineers, the Immediate Past President (IPP) of GhIE, Ing. Leslie Alex Ayeh – who is also the current President of West African Federation of Engineering Organization (WAFEO), urged engineers in the country to be game-changers and valuable, and contribute their quota to improve the lives of society.
The four (4) Engineers, one from each Technical Division, who received awards for their exemplary performance were Ing. Anita Ama Yentumi from Chemical/Mining Technical Division; Ing. Adodo Kwame Fiawoo from Civil Technical Division; Ing. Magdalene Bonney from Electrical/Electronic Technical Division; and Ing. John Stephen Asamoah from Mechanical/Agric/Marine Technical Division.
