The Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE) pays tribute to Ing. Adum Asamoa Ansa who is a founding member in the establishment of the multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy firm in Accra, called Asafo-Boakye and Partners, now known as ABP CONSULT LTD., one of the biggest and most reputable private engineering consultancies in Ghana.
Ing. Ansa was Head of Water Supply, Sewerage, Irrigation, Drainage and Roads Division of the company with responsibility for the design and construction supervision of numerous projects. He was directly responsible for the implementation of large-scale infrastructure projects funded by major financing and international donor agencies including the Government of Ghana, the World Bank, African Development Bank and the Department for International Development, UK.Some of the assignments involved collaboration with International Firms of repute and in all these Ing Ansa played a major role in upholding high the image of ABP.
He mentored many young engineers in the office which has ensured that ABP has been left in good, mature and very professional hands.
Professionally, Ing Ansa was a Chartered Engineer (C. Eng) and Corporate Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers U.K. (MICE), as well as a Fellow of the Ghana Institution of Engineering (FGhIE), having graduated with BSc Civil Engineering degree from the London University in 1963. He showed great interest in the strengthening of the Ghana Institution of Engineering in which he served as its Honorary Secretary for a period. He also contributed immensely to the design and construction of the current office building, the Engineers’ Centre in Accra, Ghana.
Ing. Ansa retired from active service in the year 2002 and died on Saturday 3rdApril 2021. May his soul rest in perfect peace.!
