ABOUT GhIE
Ghana Institution of Engineering
Download profileThe Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE) is the professional body that promotes and advances the science and practice of engineering in Ghana, Africa, and globally. Established under the Professional Bodies Registration Decree (NRCD 143) and recognized by the Engineering Council Act, 2011 (Act 819), GhIE provides leadership in engineering education, practice, and regulation.
GhIE’s membership is open to engineers, technologists, technicians, and craftsmen, organized into occupational groups and technical divisions that reflect the breadth of engineering practice. Members progress through professional grades, from students and graduates to full professional engineers, senior members, and fellows, depending on qualifications and experience.
To bring engineering closer to communities, GhIE operates branches across Ghana, with chapters that foster local engagement and professional networking. These branches, together with technical divisions and groups of strategic interest, provide members with opportunities for continuing professional development, mentorship, advocacy, and social support.
Through this network, GhIE connects thousands of professionals, ensuring that engineering practice across the country is consistent with the highest standards of competence, ethics, and service to society
