The Electrical / Electronic Technical Division of the Ghana Institution for Engineering (GhIE) held a General Meeting on the 28th of August 2019 to plan the joint Mechanical/Agric/Marine and Electrical Electronic Divisions’ annual conference to be held at Takoradi on the 7th & 8th of November 2019.
The Chairman of the technical division, Ing. Kingsford D. Laryea introduced L.I. 2354, Energy Commission (Local Content and Local Participation) (Electricity Supply Industry) Regulations, 2017 to those present. This was done to acquaint electrical engineers with the provisions of the Regulations so they can position themselves to take full advantage of its provisions. He indicated that operators in the electricity supply industry who do not meet the requirements of the Regulation may not be able to renew or obtain licences from Energy commission.
Also present at the meeting was the President of the (GhIE), Ing. Leslie A. Ayeh, Vice President Ing Harold Esseku and Ing Mike Deddey, Chairman, Mechanical, Agric and Marine Technical Division of GhIE. The President said that a series of engagements with the press dubbed ‘An evening with the press’ is in the works. The aim is for GhIE to engage the general public, get them to understand what engineers do and to improve public safety especially the electrical safety in the built environment.
