On 22nd May 2019, Ing. Dr. Patrick Bekoe held a two day pre-examination workshop on behalf of the Institution at Obuasi for AngloGold Ashanti. He represented the Chairman of Membership Committee, Ing. Kwabena Bempong. The presentations were well attended with three different sessions with an average of 25 people per session. The presentations focused on:
- Current developments in the institution
- The route to membership
- General issues on ethics and professional practice.
We generally had good feedback and there are about 50 engineers preparing to write the next available examination.
Management is also keen to ensure that all their engineering practitioners comply with Act 819 by registering with GhIE and have already made it a part of their recruitment requirements as they intend to recruit over 400 engineering staff as part of their expansion drive. Those that are already members are in very high spirits and in conjunction with management, intend to apply to establish a branch in Obuasi.
Dr. Bekoe indicated that he experienced a certain joy while handling the program and so he is encouraging all members to get involved in GhIE activities since we all have so much we can contribute to the growth of the Institution. He also wishes to thank Ing. Winfred Aniagyei, former DoP who was very helpful and instrumental in ensuring the success of the workshop.
